Plan Your Digital Roadmap

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

In 2020, our current museum jobs require us to ensure collections and exhibitions data (cataloguing records and digital files) are managed, archived, and shared within the institution, to our museum colleagues, and to the public we serve. Sharing our digital planning challenges with like minded colleagues, and creating a community of peer reviewers will create momentum for this overwhelming task at hand. Create a digital planning roadmap that will target, prioritize, and put into action the projects that impact your institution’s overall digital strategy. This hands on workshop will guide you through the initiation and planning stages of any digital project. Digital projects are defined as how one’s institution utilizes electronic data and associated metadata to make your collections and exhibitions accessible to the staff and the public. These digital projects include: art collections management systems, community based sharing of data across like-minded museums; online access websites, digital asset management systems, and so much more. Each participant will create their own digital planning roadmap for their specific initiative. This will be done with assistance from the instructor (me) as well as class peers through group break-out sessions. After the workshop, participants will be invited to continue our workshop roadmaps in a shared digital strategy planning online discussion board where peer review is encouraged to continue the work that each participant has done in the class. The instructor (me) will actively participate in these online discussions as needed.
